Every year on May 1, the world collectively celebrates International Labour Day and this year was no different as many countries declared a public holiday and there were celebrations all over the world highlighting the importance of the worker.
A worker who labours is essentially the backbone of a country’s economy and this is why it is important to safeguard and protect their rights and ensure they are allowed to freely function in their roles as a worker.
Give due credit and compliments to their work and efforts, and employers should do the right thing to make sure that they are adequately and justly compensated for their services rendered and, in this way, the worker is also able to be part of the growth and success of an organization.
In signing collective wage agreements, the prosperity and success of an organization must include the worker because without the worker there can be no success and achievement and without the employer there can be no business.
Both employer and worker must cooperate and collaborate for the success and benefit of an enterprise and both parties must come away satisfied and happy with their collaboration for mutual benefit.
Prosperity achieved must not be in favour of either party but it must be justly and appropriately distributed between the two parties paving the way for the overall development, growth and maturity of the nation.
