It is normal, usual and the expected fate of human beings to age and grow old and this is why as the greying population in Malaysia is set to increase steps must be taken to address the concerns of seniors and the elderly.
But a certain marked trend has begun to emerge in recent decades where old age parents, seniors and the elderly are abandoned and left to fend for themselves in this country which is really a crying shame.
Malaysians must do their best for their aged parents and care for them as well as possible by providing a full range of support and assistance to ensure that all the needs of the elderly are met without fail till their end.
But social media is littered with tales that are heart wrenching of cold blooded people in this country not taking on the responsibility of caring for the aging especially when they become sick and infirm.
There is a dire need for the government of the day to take the lead to assist families who have difficulty and trouble taking care of sick or aging parents by providing for them a safety net and a comprehensive range of services.
In fact, in this day and age, there is no logical reason why any Malaysian who is needy and in need of assistance should be turned away from receiving help and attention as everyone in the country learns to pool their resources.
