Tell tale signs of Malay disunity
BY: CHRISTOPHER FERNANDEZ
In the recently concluded Kuala Kubu Baru by election, the DAP candidate triumphed, and although not so convincingly, yet it was an indication that Malaysians wanted to give the Anwar administration a full term as a government.
But disturbing trends have emerged from Kuala Kubu Baru, and what was most notable and glaringly evident was how disunited and factionalized the Malay community have become in this country.
Currently, Malay Muslims are really skewered in all directions, most notably with political allegiance divided between Bersatu, Parti PAS, UMNO, PN, PKR and a further schism or division does exist as well.
In this case it is the pull factor of Malay rights groups, Islamic extremists and other lunatic fringe groups that is a cause for worry and concern to all right thinking Malaysians who fret over the future of the nation.
But these are indicators that have long been festering in this country and it is highly obvious now that the disunity existing among Malay Muslims is going to witness a gradual erosion of their stranglehold on power.
Malay Muslims are being indoctrinated by all kinds of information being disseminated by political parties that they are now poised to crack up and go in separate directions which is set to witness a new Malay Muslim society emerging.
