A mix of reactions to Budget 2023
BY: AKMAL AZIZ
When Malaysian prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) unveiled the biggest annual budget ever for the nation for this year it came as no surprise that there was a wide and varied mix of reactions from different segments of society.
The feeling on the ground, while generally good, also caused some people and organizations to be ruffled and while it was not just a feel good budget most people came off to laud DSAI for the formidable effort that he and his team put in to come up with the budget.
According to DSAI, this budget actually has a tripartite role which is to spur a sluggish economy, to strengthen institutions of governance so as to boost investor confidence and to ensure that social justice is due to every citizen of the country.
Budget 2023 left no stone unturned as DSAI and his team went through with a fine tooth comb to ensure that no individual or organization or sector was left out and therefore the thought and consideration that went into formulating the budget was enormous.
While the budget is not cast in iron, there is still room for disgruntled individuals and organizations to appeal and voice and express themselves so that no one is left out in what is considered a budget for the people of Malaysia.
This budget which is to cost RM388 billion, while considered colossal, is actually in keeping with the times for a nation that is soon to gain recognition as a fully developed and advanced country which is why the foresight of DSAI must be saluted.
