Malaysians are left shocked after a father had slashed the throat of his son three times over an argument about switching television programmes.
Hulu Selangor Police Chief Supt Arsad Kamaruddin said that the father claimed that the son had attempted to kill himself.
“However, our investigation found that the victim had deep slash wounds on his neck, which is not consistent with suicide,” the media quoted him.
When the police confronted the father, he admitted that he took out a knife from the kitchen and tussled with his son. The tussle left three slash wounds, leaving the victim unconscious.
The gripping affair has stunned Malaysians as they suspect it may have started before the TV dispute.
Eve Chan said, “It’s never about the TV. More about what they have been dealing with the relationship. Both people probably feel powerless at some point and also the need to take control of everything.”
She added that it was ego that made it worse.
Stephanie Leong wished that both of them were able to control their emotions because it might have avoided the frightening incident.
“Not siding anyone but how many of us have actually felt so angry you want to kill someone?” she asked.
Although the people do not know the full story, Stephanie believes if the father and son had better communication and understanding, the problem would not have been spur.
Arsad confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and the suspect will be remanded till Wednesday.
