Suspicious OTP and emails from MySejahtera received by citizens
Malaysian citizens have claimed that they are getting unrequested OTP’s and troll emails linked to their MySejahtera account.
The text received stated, “RM0 MySejahtera: Your OTP No. is … for MySejahtera check-in registration and will expire in five minutes.”
Now there is a concern if their data had been hacked and are being used in inappropriate ways.
Sabrina Loo confirmed that she was a victim of the fake messages.
“I received it too and did not understand why I got it. I think it is better to solve the issue before more information is leaked,” she said.
Ron Juliet also said that with part of the RM 75 million invested into the service, the source of the malice should be able to be tracked down.
“Appropriate action must be taken against the culprit for breaking into and abusing the security of a National App,” he added.
Other users have also claimed that they are receiving emails informing them they had tested positive for Covid-19.
Zurairi on Twitter posted that he got an email reading, “You’ve tested positive for covid, nahhh, joking. Plenty of exploits to show.”
The email was allegedly sent from the Ministry of Health.
The government has denied that there were user data accessed by unauthorized personnel. Instead, it was random generated phone numbers and email IDs used to send to users.
