by | Dec 9, 2024 | National, News

In his royal address at the inauguration of the new Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang, the Sultan of Selangor stated that the issue of deviant Islamic teachings has become deeply concerning to him as it has the potential to divide Muslims.

His Royal Highness stated that proactive measures to prevent deviant teachings from gaining a foothold in the country must be nipped in the bud as there is the possibility of tarnishing the sanctity of Islam.

The Sultan emphasised the importance of mosques as places of uniting Muslims, irrespective of race and highlighted the growing issue of slander and confusion among Muslims, which leads many astray and into deviant beliefs.

The Sultan added that Muslims are encouraged to use the mosque as a place of worship, a centre to acquire knowledge and as a community centre for all Muslims, regardless of their background and political leanings.

In addition to the new mosque, Sultan Sharafuddin also highlighted the presence of other places of worship in the royal city of Klang and non-Muslim religious centres such as Buddhist, Taoist and Hindu temples, churches and gurdwaras.

The Sultan also remarked that it is his hope and wish that there might emerge the establishment of various multi-religious places of worship to inculcate understanding and mutual respect among the followers of different faiths.
