Malaysian squash queen Nicol David, 37, will be in a venture with ACE Pictures Entertainment, a Malaysian digital media and film production investment company, to produce a movie “I am Nicol David.”
In disclosing details of the biopic, ACE stated that they will talent scout for Nicol’s role through nationwide casting throughout West and East Malaysia.
Nicol, however, will not be acting in the movie and the role of her coach, Liz Irving, of Australia will be played by a Hollywood actress.
The screenplay is to be done by two well-known female scriptwriters – a Malaysian and an American-based writer. The biopic will be produced in English.
The biopic will not only cater to local audiences but also key markets in the United States and Europe as ACE has distribution networks and connections to sales agencies in these regions.
Nicol also credits local-based SportsExcel for opening doors of opportunities for her to excel in squash. SportExcel was established in 1991 and played a major role in her career development.
Considered by many fans to be the greatest women’s squash player in the history of squash she has even entered the highly-acclaimed Laureus World Sports Academy besides being voted as the Greatest Athlete in the World.
