Ever since the New Normal was activated, post Covid-19 pandemic, Malay unity has become fragmented and is possibly on the verge of disintegrating, and while UMNO is planning to do a unifying bid, others are asking for ‘Asalkan Bukan UMNO’ to manifest.

This indicates clearly the disunity within the Malay-Muslim framework in the country and suggests that the pull and push in different directions is set to weaken Malay unity further and result in the end in the erosion of power among Malays.

In fact, there are also indications among many grassroot Malays within political parties expressing disappointment and losing hope in their leaders who openly declare “kita nak jaga kepentingan orang Melayu” or “we want to protect Malay interests.”

But the grassroot Malays believe these leaders are merely turncoats who eventually ‘Jaga kepentingan diri, keluarga, krony dan yang bodek,’ or take care of themselves, their families, cronies and sycophants.

In the Malaysian political landscape, ABU believes Malay voters fail the maturity test when it comes to choosing leaders and this is why they are so often fooled, deceived and hoodwinked by rogue Malay leaders.

ABU, at its peak of power, was striving strongly to educate the Malay masses that their options for a better future was to look beyond leaders who are self-serving, self-seeking and selfish to opt for those with a proven track record in delivering the goods.
