Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, is currently receiving medical treatment for a musculoskeletal condition affecting his back and hip, according to Istana Negara.
In a statement issued today, Istana Negara said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been advised by doctors to rest and refrain from attending official engagements to allow for proper treatment and recovery.
As a result, His Majesty was unable to attend a breaking-of-fast event with the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, heads of foreign missions and senior government officials at the palace recently.
Istana Negara also announced that the official opening ceremony of the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque at the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), which had been scheduled to take place yesterday, has been postponed to a later date.
The palace added that His Majesty intends to resume official duties once his health shows improvement.
Further updates on the King’s condition and upcoming engagements will be announced in due course.
