Grant applications for Indian community
Mitra, the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit, will open applications for the Socioeconomic Development Grant Programme for the Indian community in the country from Oct 15 to Nov 14 for the year 2025.
Mitra has therefore called upon stakeholders and NGOs to seize the opportunity to apply for the grants as it will help them in funding activities and events that they wish to organise and implement.
Mitra, on behalf of Malaysian Indians, is committed to implementing various programmes aimed at enhancing the socioeconomic conditions of the community, especially those that are in the B40 group.
The federal government had allocated a sum of RM100 million this year to Mitra and RM95.4 million has been disbursed for various programmes while the remaining RM4.6 million went towards community upliftment initiatives.
Mitra is faced with the challenge of inadequate funding and the spectre of limited resources and the RM100 million government allocation was targeted towards 700,000 individuals from the B40 group and had to be therefore managed prudently.
The organisation is also requesting additional funds from the government to enhance employment opportunities among Indian youth through initiatives such as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme.
