There is a tendency by some of us to cast doubts and aspersions on the role played by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our lives, and there are yet others, who blame the technology for causing the death of critical thinking in our lives.

Since technology, especially AI, is beginning to take a formidable position in the lives of Malaysians, there are, among us, those with a penchant to state that with the use of AI, a person does not need to crack their heads.

The solution to this dilemma is to balance the use of AI, by at the same time, fully developing our critical thinking skills which is for our own benefit to ensure AI does not displace us at the workplace and bring about redundancies.

Both AI and other technology or automation must work together in tandem with the further development of the critical thinking skills of human capital in this country for there to be equal weighting of the equation of function at the workplace.

Nothing can be further from the truth. Those who are unemployed and spending their time twiddling their fingers should factor in retraining and to reposition themselves in order to secure meaningful employment.

Malaysians must wake up from their slumber to face the rapid changes and challenges that are taking place in the employment sector, and instead of fearing or dreading AI, to come to terms with employment in the New Normal.
