If Malaysians have a bone to pick with despotic governments of the past, it is the bare fact that wealth earned from economic booms were never really equitably distributed, thus creating much bitterness, anger and resentment.

This oversight, deliberate or otherwise, by the Malaysian governments of the past has caused a minority elite in the country to emerge, as they became the true beneficiaries of most of the gains made in the boom period of the economy.

Therefore, those who have been left out from the process of receiving their fair share of the economic pie have now got to settle for measly handouts by the government just to ensure they survive by being able to eke a living.

While these handouts by the Madani Administration is appreciated and welcomed, it does nothing much to solve the issue of poverty among many Malaysians and instead wealth acquired by way of corruption by the elite must be confiscated by the government.

Seizing the assets and wealth of those ranked as the elite in this country is a tall order, but it must be done, as this wealth was accumulated mainly through corrupt activities and not by way of honest, hard work and industry.

This wealth must not only be returned to the Ministry of Finance’s Treasury, but accordingly and appropriately redistributed by fair and square means to the rakyat who are entitled to stake their claim rightfully.
