Anyone who wants to take power, for whatever reason, should delve into understanding the meaning and purpose of possessing power, as power just corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The connection between the glory of possessing power and corruption are spoken of in the same breath and this connectedness must be understood before wanting to acquire or attain power in the course of living our lives.

With power, comes authority. But a person possessing power must also fully understand that “to be in authority, you must be under authority,” which means to say a person of power and authority must submit to checks-and-balances imposed on them.

This is only fair to avoid autocratic or authoritarian behaviour which can pave the way for widespread abuses, atrocities and wrongdoings in an organization or country which people have witnessed and are even now witnessing.

There must always be these safety nets in place, these guidelines and terms and conditions in order to keep everyone in line in organisations, countries or even homes for there to emerge fairness and justice displayed.

There must be this rule book, otherwise power in the hands of an ignoramus leads to chaos and confusion and there is oppression and tyranny suffered by those who come under the governance or rule of these powerful personages.
