In recent times, residents of the suburb of Bangsar have been complaining over how residential houses fronting the commercial zones are being somehow converted to shoplots or offices engaging in business activities.

While people are puzzled how this is possible, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur is keeping quiet and also keeping a distance away from the issue which is witnessing chaotic traffic jams and residential houses being blocked by parked cars.

This ‘creeping commercialization,’ while raking in profits and gains for businesses, is wreaking havoc on the quality-of-life in the Bangsar suburb and people are asking at what price this commercialization is taking place.

Not only in Bangsar, but in urban and suburban areas of the Klang Valley massive commercialization, owing to improper planning and coordination by local authorities is witnessing the region going to the dogs.

The current scenario that has emerged from all this mayhem is that there are massive traffic gridlocks, often bumper to bumper, forest reserves have vanished and even playgrounds and football fields developed commercially.

Concerned environmentalists are up in arms with the authorities and are asking for a Master Plan to be drawn up over how the Klang Valley is to be developed and not as how it is now through a haphazard and confusing approach.
