The economic prospects of Malaysia are becoming bleaker by the day, and this can be witnessed by the growing number of people out of work or who adopt an indifferent, couldn’t care less attitude towards their future.

Since this is The New Normal, it is understandable to confront issues such as unemployment, and therefore, the government has to put in place mechanisms to resolve life for every Malaysian to promote peace and harmony in the country.

If life has become bleak, with very little prospects of improving, it is because of gross social inequalities that are causing a certain amount of friction and tension among the rakyat, which needs to be addressed to avoid the nation from becoming a failed state.

While it is fairly easy to highlight these issues affecting the nation and that are set to destroy the country, there are ample experts and pundits in different fields of endeavour to advise the government on implementing appropriate measures.

Social injustices and the visible law and order situation all point to a society in disarray set to disintegrate or implode from within and create a spillover effect set to embroil Malaysians in further crises which should roil them even more.

It is, therefore, time for the authorities to call a spade a spade and not play their cards close to their chest but display them, including their trump cards or the aces up their sleeves, so all Malaysians may enjoy prosperity and not just the elite.
