There are many Malaysians who are sports fans, and the country is known to be a sports loving nation, which is a factor that augurs well, and therefore the government must learn to promote this great interest in sports.

But what is very hard for Malaysians of all walks of life to witness is the power play of politicking and jockeying for positions in sports organisations and bodies for personal benefit and not for the sport or sportsmen and sportswomen.

This is why it is sad when talented sportsmen and sportswomen give up, and fail to explore the potential and promise they possess as talented individuals in their respective sports, owing to politics meddling in the game.

It is therefore vital and necessary for the government, the sports ministry and relevant authorities to supervise, monitor and regulate all sports bodies in the country to ensure fair play, justice and meritocracy is practiced in sports organisations.

The rakyat root for their sports stars in their performances in various sports and games and are bitterly disappointed and disheartened to see that officials of these sports organisations are actually guilty of hindering the progress of a sport.

In recent years, controversies have shrouded popular sports such as football, badminton, athletics and a number of other sports and the ministry of sports must put a stop to all this evil miasma that is killing sports organisations.
