Helicopter parents must know when to stay grounded

Often you hear children complaining and murmuring over the expectations of their parents from them, and this is a phenomenon that is worldwide, and these ‘helicopter parents’ need to be guided and advised on what they are doing.

If your son or daughter believes you are a helicopter parent, there is no need to fret, get anxious or worried, instead, as a helicopter parent you have to recognise and understand the limits of your role in parenting your children.

Who is a helicopter parent? A helicopter parent is a parent who has a list of do’s and don’ts for their children and monitors and supervises them by hovering over them like a helicopter giving them no room to be themselves naturally.

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a helicopter parent, a better and more suitable approach to use is to know when you have to lay your hands off your children and learn that you must be grounded.

This difference of knowing when it is necessary to hover over your children and when you need to stay grounded is critical, crucial and important towards successful parenting and gives a meaningful and fulfilling experience in being a parent.

Successful and happy parenting needs study and learning on your own or with others, and it needs effort from you to learn the ropes of parenting, and is never easy, but the end result when your children grow up should be well worth the price you pay.
