People in Malaysia are ‘harassed and besieged’,’ not only sexually, but by the numerous times the public announcement system at rail stations urge those who have been sexually harassed to come forward and to duly file complaints.
These repeated announcements in the Malay and English language gives the impression there are many perverts on board the trains who are groping and eve-teasing women which is an action on the part of the authorities which must stop.
Make these announcements at irregular intervals, and not so often, although sexual harassment is on the rise not only on trains and buses, but especially at the workplace, where it has been discovered in most of these cases that a co-worker is the culprit.
But more importantly, men and women must dress appropriately for work and not look as if they are ready for a night out of partying which is the provocation and cue to perverts to exercise their lust which they cannot restrain.
Dress modestly in view of the work you have to do, your responsibilities and job duties which must be discharged, and don’t indulge in sexual foreplay verbally or be physically abusive by being touchy.
There is a certain protocol or code of ethics at workplaces which both management and staff must abide by and adhere to and not harass or make sexual advances though the temptation can be strong.
