Difficult as it might seem, there has to be structured mechanisms put in place by the government of the day to create wealth and prosperity for Malaysians who are languishing in the B40 and M40 groups in the country.
The stress is on the ‘difficulties’ posed by this venture as those in the B40 and M40 households are currently facing challenges buttering their bread and this kind of ‘basket cases’ need the government in concert with the private sector to inject capital.
If carefully monitored and executed, this injection of capital investment will go a long way in bringing a return-on-investment not only for the B40 and M40 groups but other sectors of the economy accordingly opening up to benefit.
While the hard core poor can be easily assisted through the use of government funds available and private sector investment, the same cannot be stated of the B40 and M40 groups who are in a unique position in this country.
Being neither here nor there, the B40 and M40 groups have to not only be the beneficiaries of capital funding from both the public and private sector, they must by imparting knowhow and expertise to them to be able to prosper.
It is important that these groups be funded prudently and wisely, and they in turn must not be a ‘weak link’ in this country but pull their weight and measure up to the challenges they are facing by cooperating with both the public and private sector.
