Aidilfitri weekend to see mostly fine weather across Malaysia

Malaysia is expected to experience generally favourable weather conditions during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, with rain mainly forecast during certain evening and night periods, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In its latest forecast, MetMalaysia said most parts of the country are likely to enjoy fair weather on Friday and Saturday, which are expected to coincide with the festive celebrations.

For Friday morning, rainfall is forecast only in Perak and parts of Sabah, particularly in the Tawau division, while other states are expected to experience clear conditions.

However, scattered thunderstorms and showers may develop later in the afternoon across several areas including Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

Similar weather alerts were also issued for parts of Sabah, namely the West Coast, Interior and Tawau divisions, as well as Sarawak, involving the Kapit, Miri and Limbang divisions.

At night, rainfall is expected in several locations, including Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan, as well as parts of Sabah (Interior and Tawau) and Sarawak (Kapit, Miri and Limbang).

Looking ahead to March 21, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms and rain are likely to occur in the afternoon in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, as well as in several divisions in Sarawak, including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Sri Aman.

Rain is also expected in Perak during the morning, while scattered showers may occur at night in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah (Tawau division).

Meanwhile, on March 22, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are forecast in parts of Sabah, particularly the West Coast and Sandakan divisions, and in several areas of Sarawak, namely Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Sri Aman.

MetMalaysia advised the public to stay updated with the latest weather information through its official channels, especially during the festive travel period.
