In a statement issued by the Royal Press Office, Malaysia’s King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar warned that corruption in government agencies will be tackled without compromise as more individuals come under his ‘radar.’
The King stressed that there is the enforcement of the ‘rule of law’ and no one is above the law, warning that he has his own ways of gathering and compiling data and intelligence on corruption in the country.
The King’s remarks come in the wake of allegations and accusations of wrongdoing and abuse of power against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki who is scheduled to be probed by an ad hoc task force.
But Malaysians are being urged not to accept the findings of this task force headed by the attorney-general and want an independent panel of experts to deliberate and investigate if there is any misconduct by Azam Baki.
The human rights commission of Malaysia, SUHAKAM, wants His Majesty the Yang Di Pertuan Agong to appoint a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to handle the allegations and accusations raised against him by Bloomberg, an international media.
Malaysians, although believing that the King and his brother Malay rulers should be apolitical, are breathing a huge sigh of relief and welcome the intervention of rulers as they deem that a significant number of politicians are now wayward and corrupt.
