A mysterious ‘pocong’ sighting that unsettled residents around Parit Buntar and neighbouring Nibong Tebal over the past two weeks has been resolved after the supposed apparition was exposed as a young man staging a prank.
The white-shrouded figure, widely believed by locals to be a supernatural entity, had sparked anxiety across several neighbourhoods, with some residents reportedly avoiding night outings due to fear of being disturbed by the alleged ghost.
The mystery came to light after a paranormal content creator known as Solo Ambush encountered and pursued the figure during a live recording session in Parit Kasa. In a video that quickly went viral on social media, the costumed individual was seen fleeing before eventually being intercepted.
According to the influencer, initial excitement over the discovery quickly turned into disappointment when the ‘entity’ was revealed to be a man in his 20s wearing a white wrap and track pants. The individual later apologised, claiming he had intended only to frighten friends passing through the area rather than members of the public.
He was reportedly from Batu 4 and had been dropped off at the location by friends to carry out the prank. Following questioning at the scene, the suspect was handed over to the village residents’ committee for further action. His subsequent situation remains unclear.
In the closing moments of the viral clip, Solo Ambush reminded viewers that reckless stunts could pose serious risks and potentially lead to unintended consequences.
Meanwhile, the Kerian District Police Headquarters confirmed that no official police report had been lodged in connection with the incident.
The viral ‘pocong rampage’ rumours had circulated widely across Penang and Parit Buntar in recent weeks, fuelling speculation and unease among local communities before the truth behind the sightings was uncovered.
