In convicting and incarcerating Najib, the learned judges and counsels apparently did not see the woods for the trees, and now pressure is mounting by Malaysians who want Najib freed and to have the avenue or opportunity to become prime minister once more.

Why is this so? In the quirky, murky waters of politics, the fate of Najib must not be decided upon by a Malaysian court of law but by the people’s court. This may go beyond the dictates of reason but it is not for courts, judges, PDRM or the AGC or MACC to decide.

Malaysians must push for a referendum on Najib’s guilt and he must just confess ‘mea culpa’ (my fault) to all charges and accusations levelled against him and gracefully accept the decision of the rakyat whom he has betrayed.

Najib’s fate, future and destiny must now be at the behest of Malaysians who see him as a victim of a greater, intriguing and complicated plot by corrupt and powerful personages whom he did not grant obeisance to and ended up paying the price.

If Najib is to languish in a Malaysian jail, people believe there are many others who are powerfully corrupt who must share cells in prison with him because of the widespread nature of corruption which is really a way of life in this country.

Malaysians must implore and plead and appeal to His Majesty the Yang Di Pertuan Agong to invoke his sovereign powers to bestow upon Najib a full Royal Pardon and for him to be restored to his position of prime minister.
