A man’s word must mean something, and if he makes a promise, he must keep it and honour it in order for him to be trusted and taken into confidence, and this is why politicians on both sides of the divide must learn to make good on electoral promises.

What is a man if he cannot keep his promise and subscribes to wishy-washy behaviour. It is important for politicians not to halt between two opinions and to get the best results as a politician they must learn to ‘call a spade a spade’.

Several years after the last general election Malaysians have still yet to see the fulfillment of the election manifestos of parties they voted into power, all the expected reforms and transformation have not materialised so far.

While it is true that some promises have been kept, the larger majority of promises have been unfulfilled and not realised which is why there is a great trust deficit in place between the rakyat and elected representatives.

Once elected and holding power, a significant number of politicians become turncoats, and instead of focusing on serving the rakyat, they abuse their power, position and authority by being self-seeking and self-serving.

Voters in Malaysia must learn to wise up and become mature politically and they must scrutinise all electoral candidates and only vote those who have a track record of delivering on their promises and meeting the expectations of the rakyat.
