Those who have become ‘muflis’ or bankrupt in a Malaysian household are getting increasingly common and this is why they feel the strain of the financial responsibility on them and most of these people are at their wit’s end as to what to do.

Cruel and inhumane people suggest or advise these suffering people to beg, borrow or steal and there are those who are actually resorting to these ideas as they feel they are unable to come out of the financial rut which is giving them no peace of mind.

The plight of these households which are growing in numbers needs to be addressed and lasting solutions must be found to ease their suffering and misery otherwise society will be in disarray and it can cause social tensions.

The government must spearhead a task force to get to the bottom of this matter and to ready financial rescue packages for these people or they will start to generate a lot of unhappiness, suffering and misery among the people.

Besides the government, NGOs, charity organizations and wealthy individuals with funds surplus to requirement should be roped in to form a national committee to solve the financial woes of these households.

If nothing is done to arrest the rot there will be more non-performing loans and bankruptcy cases and Malaysia will start to regress and end up as a failed state owing to the wealth of the nation being inequitably distributed.
