For decades, vernacular schools have invited breweries to serve alcoholic beverages in their school halls and all this would be no more if a directive from the prime minister is to be enforced signifying a shift away from the norm.

Slowly but surely the Malaysian way of life is beginning to change and people of all walks of life are bracing themselves for further changes under what is considered as The New Normal and this period of transition is awkward for many people.

While many people loathe wearing a mask, the measure by the health ministry is important to implement as it safeguards people from catching all kinds of viruses and germs which are now so difficult to cure.

However, while wearing a mask under The New Normal is not compulsory, it is encouraged for those who use public transport facilities like the MRT, LRT or Rapid KL buses, the KTM Komuter and Monorail.

Even coffee shops and eateries are brushing up on cleanliness following a spate of complaints and more people are observing social distancing and are being particular or even fussy demanding the availability of sanitisers.

In other areas of people’s lives, the government is supposed to be invading the privacy of Malaysians and there is a slow encroachment causing and leading to an individuals human rights being chipped away.
