In anticipation of increased commuter traffic during the 46th ASEAN Summit, Rapid KL has announced extended peak-hour operations across its LRT, MRT, and Monorail lines from 23 to 27 May 2025. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother transportation for both summit delegates and the public.

Extended Peak Hours

To accommodate the expected surge in passengers, weekday peak hours will be extended by one hour in both the morning and evening. Morning peak hours will now run from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM (previously 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM), while evening peak hours will extend from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM (previously 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM).

Increased Train Frequencies

On the weekend of 24 and 25 May, train frequencies will be increased to manage higher ridership:

• Ampang/Sri Petaling Line: every 4 minutes (from 5 minutes)
• Kelana Jaya Line: every 5 minutes (from 7 minutes)
• Monorail Line: every 8 minutes (from 10 minutes)
• Kajang and Putrajaya Lines: every 8 minutes (from 10 minutes)

Rapid KL has indicated readiness to deploy additional trains if necessary to ensure seamless operations.

Enhanced Station Support

To assist passengers during this period, 400 additional staff members will be stationed at key rail stations. Their role includes guiding commuters and summit delegates, ensuring efficient movement within the transit system.

Anticipated Bus Service Delays

Due to intermittent road closures for summit-related activities, certain bus routes and Rapid KL On-Demand services may experience delays. Affected routes include:

• Route 402 (LRT Titiwangsa – LRT Maluri)
• Route 302 (LRT Titiwangsa – KLCC)
• Route 300 (Hab Pandan Indah – Lebuh Ampang)
• Route 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya – Lebuh Ampang)
• Rapid KL On-Demand (Zone Titiwangsa – Chow Kit)

Commuters heading to KLCC and surrounding areas are advised to utilise rail services to avoid potential traffic congestion. Nearby stations include KLCC (Kelana Jaya Line), Persiaran KLCC (Putrajaya Line), Raja Chulan (KL Monorail), Conlay (Putrajaya Line), and Bukit Bintang (Kajang and KL Monorail lines).

Rapid KL encourages passengers to plan their journeys in advance and stay informed through official social media channels or the PULSE app. Utilising rail services is recommended to minimise inconvenience during the summit period.
