Leeds United battling hard to win Championship

by | Apr 23, 2025 | News, Sports, World

The English Football League (EFL) Championship for the 2024 / 2025 season is now down to the wire as Leeds United and Burnley FC go head to head as the last two games for each team waits to be played to determine who would be crowned the winners.

Both Leeds and Burnley are tied with 94 points after having played 44 games with the former on top of the EFL based on a much superior goal advantage which may well prove decisive in clinching the title.

But there are two games more to end the season for each of them, and while both automatically qualify for next season’s English Premier League (EPL), Leeds and Burnley both undoubtedly want to end at an all time high by winning the Championship.

Winning the EFL Championship would be the icing on the cake but one team will find the ice melting for them and even the supercomputer finds it hard to call as to who will end the winner and the remaining two games will be closely followed by fans.

Whoever wins the title, however, will find it is not the be all and end all as in the EPL both newly promoted teams will be under pressure to prove themselves and avoid being relegated as the quality of the game is much higher.

While the third placed to sixth placed teams in the EFL will go into a playoff to determine which is the third team to join Leeds and Burnley, the focus for the present is on the last two games to be played in the Championship.
