With the exception of the need to tinker with a few minor details, Malaysians everywhere, especially educationists, teachers and parents fully welcomed the idea of schoolchildren having the national flag on their uniforms.
Bearing the Jalur Gemilang on their uniforms is the peak of instilling patriotism and love for the country that offers them a bright and fulfilling future and this is why schoolchildren must be taught to respect the national flag.
Showing respect for the national flag symbolises the deep honour that they embrace, and since they are starting young, this move is considered a step in the right direction to foster unity, love for the nation and everything Malaysian.
Needless to say, by wearing the national flag on their uniform, these schoolchildren will consistently be reminded of the role they have to play as citizens of the country from cradle to grave.
The Madani government must capitalise on this brilliant idea to encourage schoolchildren to engage each other as equals, irrespective of race or religion, and to stand united to serve the nation upon adulthood.
There can be no better way to express the need for a meeting of minds among young Malaysians to join forces with each other, help and assist each other on the pathway to making and building a better future.
