Public delivery system keeps failing us

If you are a Malaysian, the greatest grouse and complaint you will have is the failure of the public delivery system which many people consider as unreliable and cannot be depended on especially when you most need it.

So often Malaysians have to put up with many delays, disappointments and frequent breakdowns and services going offline that it is a bewildering experience in dealing with government ministries, departments and agencies.

While the MRT and LRT are fairly reliable, escalators not working or lift breakdowns at these stations are common which is exasperating for users, while the Rapid buses do not run to schedule and deceive people waiting to be transported.

Going to a public hospital and delays in getting treatment can turn the condition of your health for the worse and patients beg and borrow money to be treated at private hospitals where they have to usually end up paying exorbitant medical bills.

Or have you tried getting a refund for electricity tariffs or water usage that you have been blatantly overcharged or complained about the rubbish that has not been collected for days by the authorities.

Malaysia’s public delivery system is terribly messed up because of a lack of professionalism, dedication and commitment in expediting services to the public which is why people think there is a Third World system of public delivery.
