The long-standing complaints by Malaysians that during festive seasons prices of goods and services are jacked up has aroused the concern of prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who will personally check the prices of controlled items.
This Hari Raya AidilFitri, Malaysians can be assured that they can celebrate this festive joy as the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has been instructed by Datuk Anwar to implement the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (FSMPS).
This scheme goes into effect from March 24 to April 7, 2025 to ensure a win-win situation for both consumers and the business community in a directive by the prime minister to observe strict compliance with the FSMPS.
In devising the FSMPS, the price determination process has taken into account feedback and information obtained from the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, relevant government agencies and industry players.
The Prime Minister’s Senior press secretary disclosed that Datuk himself will personally go to the ground to conduct the inspection of prices of goods, especially items that are controlled under the FSMPS.
This will enable Datuk Anwar to directly observe the situation on the ground, ensuring that regulations, including the requirement to display price tags on controlled goods are implemented for consumers to enjoy the festive season.
