Ever since the Holy period of Ramadan or fasting observed by Muslims began, there is the ubiquitous sprouting of stalls in designated areas selling an array of delicious and tasty halal delicacies and food and drinks.
This year is no different and many Malaysians of all walks of life, tourists and visitors mix and mingle in the crowds that patronise these stalls, and vendors can be seen busily serving them in businesses that are obviously thriving.
While some Malaysians complain that some of the food is too sugary or sweet, in the breaking of fast it is necessary to boost energy levels, and this is why certain foods and drinks are prepared extra sweet.
But there are also food and beverages that can be considered healthy, nutritious and wholesome for all members of a family and it is the wide variety of options and alternatives available that is also a major attraction.
The cost and the prices of most items are affordable, and since this is Ramadan “Bulan yang mulia” (An honourable month), Muslim vendors can be seen giving generous helpings of food and drinks to customers offering good value for your money.
The hive of activity, the hustle and bustle and the ability of all Malaysians of all races and religions to savour and to experience Ramadan bazaars is something to be cherished, treasured and valued during this holy month.
