A call to embrace peace by Muslims and Christians

This is the season in a year where Muslims observe the Holy Month of Ramadan, and Christians have their Lenten campaign simultaneously, by a combined faithful of over 3 billion followers of these two faiths.

During this period, where both faiths practise prayer and fasting and alms giving, the spectre of the state of the world at present has prompted leaders of these faiths to urge all followers to embrace peace and goodwill.

There are visible signs in Malaysia that those who follow the pure and true teachings of these two religions are willing and prepared to come together along with other faiths and religions to bolster peace, progress and prosperity.

This shared vision by all religions must not be merely a passing fancy or phenomenon but a lasting truth where the people of all religions and beliefs in this world show mutual respect and tolerance for each other’s beliefs.

A more important prerequisite is for there to be international understanding in countries where there is strife and war around the world that efforts towards reconciliation and peace may work for peace and harmony to prevail.

In this brief period of existence of a person’s life, let each and every individual on this earth lay hold of peace and spread peace and unity to others so that it may spread and become a reality that bliss can be achieved by all human beings.
