Gombak Integrated Terminal Set to Open Very Soon

by | Mar 7, 2025 | News, Travel

The Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (GITT), also known as Terminal Bersepadu Gombak (TBG), is set to commence operations on 15 March 2025, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Following a recent site inspection, Loke announced that the terminal would begin a phased opening, initially accommodating bus services from the East Coast for passenger drop-offs. Subsequently, in the second week, the terminal will facilitate passenger boarding, aiming to support travellers returning to their hometowns for Hari Raya festivities at the month’s end.

The GITT is poised to become a pivotal transport hub, integrating various modes of transportation, including bus services, the Light Rail Transit (LRT), and future connections to the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL). This integration is anticipated to enhance travel convenience for passengers journeying to Kuala Lumpur from the East Coast states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan.

To ensure a seamless transition into full operations, the Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Public Works Department, will conduct final inspections to address any outstanding issues. These inspections aim to ensure that all facilities, particularly those catering to persons with disabilities (PwD), meet the required standards. Notably, the terminal has incorporated features to assist PwD passengers. For instance, when a passenger indicates their PwD status during ticket purchase, the system notifies the bus driver to park at a designated PwD-friendly spot, thereby facilitating easier boarding and alighting.

In addition to transportation services, the GITT will house retail outlets and a multipurpose hall available for public rental, enhancing the terminal’s utility beyond transit purposes. The terminal’s strategic location also offers proximity to the ECRL station and the Gombak LRT station, with plans underway to construct a travelator or escalator to bridge the approximately 100-metre distance between these facilities. This development aims to provide passengers with a more comfortable and efficient commuting experience.

The opening of the GITT is expected to alleviate congestion at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Bandar Tasik Selatan, redistributing passenger traffic and streamlining transportation flows within the region. As the terminal begins its phased operations, it marks a significant milestone in enhancing Malaysia’s transportation infrastructure, offering improved connectivity and convenience for travellers across the nation.
