Malay leaders under intense scrutiny now

In the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan, Malay-Muslims are expressing shock and dismay over the number of Malay political leaders against whom accusations and allegations of corruption are swirling.

These Malay-Muslims state that “pemimpin Melayu kata nak jaga kepentingan orang Melayu, tapi nampaknya mereka hanya jaga kepentingan diri sendiri, keluarga dan kroni. Kita harapkan pagar, tapi pagar makan padi.”

Translated into English this means: “Malay leaders say they want to look after the Malays, but it looks like they only want to look after themselves, their families and cronies. We put our trust in them, but they betray us.”

This is a painful, hard, harsh reality that is beginning to sink in among Malaysians of all races, especially Malay-Muslims, and it looks like now there has to be a look into Malay leaders playing the race and religion card to make personal gains.

The hypocrisy of these leaders, who have managed to deceive and hoodwink Malaysians, while helping themselves to the wealth made by economic growth which is the direct result of the toil of the rakyat, is beyond belief.

This is a time not only for Malay-Muslims but every Malaysian to do deep soul searching, and strive to ensure that the evil of corruption by the elite in this country is wiped out completely before this nation truly becomes a failed state.
