Turkiye to double trade with Malaysia

Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on an official visit to Malaysia declared that his country wants to double trade with Malaysia to RM45 billion across various sectors in a well balanced way and manner.

Besides semiconductor technologies for automotive sectors, Mr Erdogan stated that Turkiye also intends to enhance joint efforts in all sectors to allow both nations to move forward in various fields in a win-win situation.

Mr Erdogan stated that while Turkiye was the gateway to Europe, Malaysia was the gateway to Asia and, in this respect, his country wishes to strengthen its aviation bridge as their second largest airport is managed and operated by Malaysians.

Mr Erdogan added that Turkiye is striving to strengthen ties under the “Asia Anew” initiative launched in 2019 and Malaysia played a vital role in expediting the core of this grand vision for the two nations.

Mr Erdogan noted the historical fact of blossoming ties between Turkiye and Malaysia as in 2014 it was elevated to a Strategic Partnership and subsequently to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.

The Turkiye president characterised Malaysia as one of the foremost nations in ASEAN, boasting of a vibrant economy, a diverse population and a skilled workforce and he hoped both nations would reap the fruits of joint co-operation.
