ASEAN to push for win-win tourism

Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry has called on Asean member countries to form a stronger collaboration with each other’s economy and tourism to boost this sector by aiming to implement win-win strategies.
The ministry stated that “within a collaborative ecosystem, the benefits derived can be amplified for all Asean member states by not only promoting the destinations of each individual country but to encourage travel and investment across the region.”
The ministry hosted the Asean Travel Exchange (Travex) at the Persada International Convention Centre in Johor Baru on January 15 in conjunction with the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025 which will end on January 20, 2025.
ATF serves as a platform to deepen understanding and cooperation between Asean nations and industry experts stated that events like this provide an invaluable opportunity to build bridges and strengthen ties across borders.
According to the ministry, Travex was a sellout as it received an overwhelming response with a total of 221 sellers showcasing the best of Asean tourism, 323 buyers from 42 countries and over a 100 media representatives from 35 countries.
The ministry stated that this confirms not only the potential but the growing confidence in the Asean tourism industry and its capacity to forge countless opportunities in a shared vision for the future of regional tourism.
