Launching of Visit Malaysia Year 2026
In launching the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 campaign, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that all ministries, departments and government agencies must work together to enhance the tourism industry.
By this, he also meant that capabilities must be enhanced not only in boosting tourism but also any agenda to increase investment and strengthen the economy and every state and district in the country must learn to participate.
VMY 2026 is part of Anwar’s strategy to make Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN a success and the nation hopes to achieve a projected income of RM147.1 billion while the targeted tourist arrivals across the country is 35.6 million.
Anwar outlined and highlighted to the media at the launch of the VMY Year 2026 campaign that a major approach to be used is in promoting the country’s sustainability, harmony and multicultural legacy with its strong cultural foundation.
VMY 2026 is expected to impact every segment and sector of society, going beyond the tourism industry, to include hospitality, transport, retail and food industries and the economic benefits are also to be shared by urban and rural communities.
While describing Malaysia as a unique destination, Anwar also stressed the inclusivity of the Madani framework that is to be used for VMY 2026 to improve the quality of life and harmony between development and nature.
