Realising Malaysia’s potential with innovative ideas
Malaysian prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, stated that ideas based on principles and ethical values can be developed and refined but more importantly, the quality and intent of those ideas are critical.
He added that ideas can grow and flourish but if the nation is not careful, these ideas can also create chaos and confusion and this is why ideas need to be dissected and evaluated before they can be turned into reality.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the Putrajaya Festival of Ideas which is an event that was held to showcase Malaysia as a regional and global centre for intellectual discourse and innovation.
Datuk Seri Anwar stated that ideas without morality and conscience can lead to confusion and destruction therefore it must stem from a good motive and be grounded in moral and ethical values.
Datuk Seri Anwar highlighted the importance of balancing tradition and progress and the need for the nation to be rooted in its identity, culture, language and religious beliefs while striving to embrace progress and development.
The Prime Minister stated that the Festival of Ideas could be used as a platform to inspire critical thinking, creativity and innovation and it must be especially seen as an avenue and opportunity for youth to express themselves.
