Is the Malaysian way of life under threat?
BY: NADHIRA ZA
If a person were to browse through social media platforms, they can be forgiven for thinking that the Malaysian way of life is under threat by Islamisation exercises and Bumiputera special rights and privileges.
But this is a mere half truth, as in actuality and fact, it is only a perception as there is no threat to the freedom and liberty of Malaysians to go where they want to go and to enjoy themselves thoroughly in this country.
While there are ongoing Islamisation exercises and affirmative action policies are in place, all races and religions in the country enjoy freedom of worship and freedom of expression and this is because the nation is a parliamentary democracy.
There may be some racists groups and other lunatic fringe groups that are actively pursuing their agenda but a better informed and better educated Malaysian populace are not falling or giving in to their ploys.
In fact, the Malaysian way of life has become good to the extent foreigners are wanting to indulge in all the gains for which the rakyat have worked hard for over the decades since Merdeka or Independence from the British.
This is why Malaysians should not only enjoy and savor their way of life but cherish and safeguard it as Malaysia has become a role model as a multi racial nation and multi religious nation that has become the envy of the world.
