Wealth creation and materialism
BY: FIRDAUS OSMAN
There is nothing wrong with being wealthy and owning material possessions but let me put a lid on all this as it’s blatantly obvious that no matter how much we own, it is never really enough and this is why there is no limit to wealth creation.
Perhaps a wiser option is for us to determine our level of satisfaction or contentment, with what we have earned or acquired in life, and to realistically decide where our cut off point, the point where wealth for us is enough.
In our modern world, there are numerous avenues and ways by which opportunities are available for us to create wealth and it must be noted that only ten persons own fifty percent of the wealth of the world with them.
This is therefore the bone of contention. The super rich stating they worked hard and smart to acquire their wealth while those who are poor and needy are deemed lazy and never really applied themselves.
Whatever the raging debate on wealth creation is, there is a need to understand that wealth has to be equitably distributed and everyone should prosper to avoid feuds and friction in society and to ensure peace and stability.
The wealth of the world is not infinite and it is very vital and important that it is distributed over as wide as possible of the earth’s population for there to be enough for everyone and everybody and for equality in the world between all people.
