Stop all politicisation of education
BY: SALSABIELA JAMAL
Educationists, teachers and parents are calling for an immediate cessation of all politicisation of education that students might be spared from the disarray and confusion it is causing them and this has now become a great concern.
For decades, there has been the continuous saga of politics rearing its head in the set up of the Malaysian education system and it has resulted, and is responsible for producing many educated derelicts in the country now.
But who is to be blamed for this phenomenon emerging? While blame must be borne by successive Malaysian governments, the point now is not to point fingers and hurl accusations but to take charge of the situation.
The awareness and the fact that for decades the education has been on the decline is good but it is time to arrest the rot and put the house in order to ensure that the nation does not jump from the frying pan into the fire.
This means there is a need to start with the basics of education once again, there is a dire need to address issues of concern and put the education system in the country from nursery to tertiary back on track.
Anything other than the restoration to a modern, high quality and standard system of education in this country should not be acceptable, as it will endanger and jeopardise the future of generations of Malaysians.
