Choosing between right and wrong
BY: FAEIZ SHAH
Many times, and very often, people are confronted with having to make decisions, decisions between right and wrong and believe me it is not a simple task as there are difficulties encountered in the process of arriving at a decision.
Why should there be any difficulty in choosing between right and wrong? It should be simple enough for anybody: don’t do what is wrong, do what is right, the answer seems obvious to all of us in this world.
But in the process of making a decision between right and wrong, there are often external circumstances to consider and therefore most people are not in a straightforward position to make the right decision.
Now you are beginning to realize what I am coming to and what this right and wrong decision is all about. It’s when a person is having to make a decision in life whether to say yes or no to being corrupt.
Corruption is actually not an easy option for people to say no to and this is a major reason why corruption is so common in this country and, more importantly, why it is difficult to eradicate and counter.
But the best guide in a situation whether to be corrupt or not looms before us is to let our conscience be our guide, but sadly, and this is the reason why all kinds of corruption is so widespread, the fact that many people’s consciences are not existent.
