Malay Rulers urge Muslims to forge unity
BY: ZULKHAIRI HAMZAH
Malay Rulers, on a day which marked the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), have urged the ummah or faithful to strengthen unity and brotherhood while being mutually cooperative with other races and religions.
The YangDiPertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, in a speech to mark the occasion, stated that Malaysians must help and assist one another and be respectful and mindful of each other in a bid to build unity among the rakyat.
He stated that all Muslims, including leaders, must continue to work together to strengthen unity and ties and be equipped with the attitude of offering mutual help and being respectful of other races.
The Sultan of Pahang, Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah, in his speech to the rakyat, stated that upholding the sanctity of Islam is the collective responsibility of everyone in the country.
His Royal Highness further stated that this responsibility should not be divided or fragmented based on political beliefs or ideological differences as Islam taught unity and cooperation for the common good.
He added that no matter the colour or logo of the flag, as Muslims, there must be solidarity and religion must be placed as the foundation of life, and political differences should not be allowed to weaken the unity of the Islamic faithful.
