The madness that assails high society in Malaysia

There are cogent reasons why a certain madness assails the upper echelon of society, or better known as the elite in this country, as they display sheer arrogance through the lavish display of their newly acquired wealth.

These are the nouveau riche, who through mostly corruption, cronyism, collusion and nepotism have acquired their vast wealth which an independent and due diligence audit can uncover the real manner they are super rich by merely following the paper trail.

Unlike old money people whose wealth started from scratch and hard diligent industry, the onus of responsibility of every member of the elite is to show how though they lack talent, skills and abilities they are in possession of such vast wealth.

This unfair and inequitable distribution of wealth has resulted in a grave dichotomy with a yawning gap growing between the haves and the have nots creating a schism in a society ill at ease with how life has become now.

Successive Malaysian governments have merely made the situation worse as 30 percent of the elite now control 80 percent of the wealth of the nation while the remaining 70 percent of the rakyat have to struggle daily to butter their bread on the remaining 20 percent.

The Anwar Administration must muster the political will to bring about change that Malaysians can believe in by restoring the imbalance and righting the wrongs in this country without any further delay.
