Strengthen pre school education system
BY: SAADIAH SAIHIDIN
If the Malaysian education system is to be truly world class, if there is a need to overhaul and transform the education system, the education ministry must start with pre-school education as this is the basic foundation in a person’s education.
Therefore, while the need to strengthen pre-school education is vital and necessary, there already exist pre schools that offer quality education for the young at affordable costs especially in urban and suburban areas.
But a more important feature of pre-school education is to be focused on the training of teachers, especially since educating children of this age group is nowadays no child’s play, as attested to by the fact that there is a comprehensive range of training courses.
But not all of these training courses, unfortunately meet the mark, and this is where the education ministry must supervise, regulate and monitor the training and education of preschool teachers in Malaysia.
In the case of the issuance of permits and licences, there must be vigilance and due care given before approval is given to any individual or organization to establish a pre-school and there must be strict adherence to rules and regulations.
But currently, it is appropriate to note that pre schools in Malaysia are of a certain quality, just that it is haphazardly structured.and lacking in check and balance measures which is important in safeguarding the future of young children.
