There is really no rational reason why people commit vandalism and this is why it is hard to counter this menace but there are always such cases that crop up from time to time in neighbourhoods and communities.

While tackling the problem of vandalism is difficult, people who commit these acts do so for profit or to let off pent up frustrations and anger, or to show off to their peers that they are bold and daring in a show of egoism.

Whatever the reasons for committing vandalism, it has to stop and the authorities have to nip the problem in the bud by apprehending the culprits and bringing them to book and making them do community service to make amends.

Instead of destroying public property, vandals have to be rehabilitated to ensure they take care of public property as these facilities and amenities are to be enjoyed for our comfort and convenience.

There is a reason, an important reason why Malaysians of all walks of life must use and take care of public property and to instil in people a sense of responsibility in using and taking care of amenities and facilities.

If all of us in this country can play our part then it would save the government millions of ringgit annually in replacing and repairing public property and this money can be better spent on helping the poor and needy.
