Soaring temperatures for 2024

The prediction by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia is that in all likelihood the year 2024 will beat the year 2023 as the warmest year in the world but Malaysians are unprepared for soaring temperatures across the country.

According to the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Centre, the year 2023 was the planet’s hottest to be ever recorded but earthlings are bracing for the likelihood that the year 2024 will be even hotter.

In view of this, people are being advised to stay indoors and to stay hydrated and they are being cautioned about exercising in the heat which could lead to getting sunstrokes or sunburnt and to use moisturisers.

Concern is mounting for field workers, especially those working in the construction sector and in plantations, as daily they are repeatedly exposed to the heat of the day and these appear to be the most vulnerable groups.

Animals are also expected to be affected by the blazing heat and if there is flooding there will be more incidences of snakes and wild boars encountering humans due to their wildlife habitat being flooded.

The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department announced that there are no special preparations being made to face wild animals or snakes venturing into public areas or homes but they will respond to any call for help.
