International Women’s Day falls on March 8

In line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, the 2024 International Women’s Day celebrations is scheduled to take place on March 8 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The event, themed “Women Exalted, Nation Glorious” will be graced by the prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and is dedicated to acknowledging and promoting the achievements of women in this country.
This recognition of women who have excelled in their respective fields of endeavour across the country cuts across their background, ethnicity, language, culture, economic status or even political affiliation.
The day and event will also be an opportunity to observe and assess the accomplishments and status of women thus paving the way to implement strategic planning to empower them further for a brighter, better future.
During the celebrations, emphasis will be placed on enhancing women’s involvement at decision making levels, and a strong emphasis placed on zero tolerance towards violence against women, boosting their role in economic activities and their general well being.
In moves towards this direction, the Malaysian government hopes to endeavour and reinforce efforts to align with the agenda of mainstreaming gender equality to expand opportunities and to create the inclusivity of women in nation building.
